Developing Citizen Diplomats, University Students Can Intern at the IAEA

RI's representative in Vienna in cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to open a special internship program path, a cost-free internship. This program is intended for university students as well as bachelor degree and master's degree graduates from Indonesia. "The internship program is fully on the participant's cost," as stated in the release from the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Vienna/Permanent Mission of the Republic of Indonesia to the Vienna. The internship program is open throughout the year. The first selection will be done by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Vienna/Permanent Mission of the Republic of Indonesia to the Vienna, then the application will be forwarded to the IAEA.

About the internship duration, this program is designed for 6-12 months. However, for certain conditions, requests for a 3-month-internship will be considered.

The registration is open throughout the year, but the selection will be done at the beginning of every May and October.

RI's representative in Vienna will do the initial selection before the application files are given to IAEA for the next selection.

The selection process takes into account the candidates' competence and administration while considering English language skill, academic score, interest, and talent. Other aspects which are also considered are the educational background and experience pertaining to IAEA fields and other certain conditions.

"The internship candidates who have passed the selection in IAEA will be added to the pipeline list if there is a suitable position to be filled IAEA," written in the release.

Below are the requirements for the internship administration:

  1. Over 18 years old.
  2. Fluent in written and oral English  
  3. Submitting an internship application letter to the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Vienna/Permanent Mission of the Republic of Indonesia to the Vienna. The letter consists of a short description of participant's identity, purpose and objective of the internship, name of university/institution, the time frame of the internship (date and duration), and participant's signature.
  4. Attachments: curriculum vitae; the copy of legalized study result report for the last two semesters; recommendation letter from the head of Institution/education or lecturer; passport photo 4x6. Parental consent letter and statement letter that the parents/guardian are able to fund all costs in the internship process, including but not limited to Indonesia-Austria (round-trip) air transportation cost, accommodation, insurance, food, and local transportation.
